To ensure the widest possible dissemination and reuse of scholarly work while protecting authors' rights, Applied Linguistics Inquiry has adopted the following policy:

• Copyright: Authors retain the full copyright of their published work. There is no copyright transfer to the journal.  

   

• Licensing: All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This is the standard for gold open access and allows for maximum impact.

• Permissions Granted: The CC BY 4.0 license permits any user to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

• Author's Grant of License: By submitting their manuscript, authors agree that if the article is accepted for publication, they grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish the article and apply the CC BY 4.0 license. This allows the journal to be the first, formal publisher of the work.

• Author's Rights: Under this license, authors are free to share and reuse their own work in any way they see fit, including posting it on personal websites, in institutional repositories, and using it for teaching purposes, provided that proper attribution is given to the original publication in Applied Linguistics Inquiry.
